FULL BIOGRAPHY
Jon Martin and Lovers brings bittersweet optimism to Alt-Canadiana, chamber pop, and indie rock. Based in Edmonton, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Jon Martin writes songs that find meaning in the complications of everyday life, moving from intimate reflection to expansive arrangements.

His 2025 album, Late September Garden Party, explores fatherhood, relocation, and finding new footing. Cello-driven strings, electric 12-string, steel guitar, vibraphone, and Wurlitzer give the record its distinctive palette. His earlier album, This Could Be Our Year, was named among the Edmonton Journal’s ten best local releases of 2022; both records have been selected for Edmonton Public Library’s Capital City Records collection.

Martin’s music has received airplay across Canada, including a live concert recorded and aired on CBC Radio One. Recent appearances include official Canadian Finals Rodeo shows, the King Eddy in Calgary, the Atrium in Edmonton, and a live session on CJSR. He has written and recorded with collaborators locally and around the world, including at Abbey Road Studios in London and Rockfield Studios in Wales.

Onstage, Martin performs solo, as a duo, or with Jon Martin and Lovers as a trio or quartet. The band features Matthew Bennet on bass and vocals and Alex Johrden on drums, with Max Hopkins adding keyboards and vocals in the quartet. Martin leads on vocals, guitars, and keys. Rooted in original songs, the project offers 45–60 minute festival sets, with three-set performances and workshops available by enquiry.
